    Organic pig producers face the major challenge to produce pig meat of high quality and at a moderate price based on high animal health and welfare standards. To meet this challenge, farmers cannot rely on organic housing and production regulations solely, as these do not inevitably result in a good animal health and welfare status of the pigs. The pig farming sector is rapidly changing. Globalization, cultural differences, legislation, human resource management and the public debate on animal welfare are all factors you will be faced with on a regular basis.     The profit (money) made by the pig farmer depends on the number of pigs sold per sow on the farm over a period of one year.
